Creating a New Note

Fields in blue are required.

  1. There are multiple ways to start the process of creating a new Note. Use any of the methods available below.

    1. From the top menu, select New, Activities, Note or

    2. From the Home or Client Management tabs, click the Note Manager page. From the toolbar above the grid, click New Note.

  2. In the Title field, enter a name for the note.

  3. The Created By, Date Created, Last Modified By and Last Modified On fields will auto populate.

  4. Under Details, select the following:

    1. Assign a Category to the task through the drop-down menu. Double-click the category label to edit a category name. Note: There are 25 category colors available. You cannot create your own custom color.

    2. Access list, select from the following:

      1. User Groups which will automatically include your entire firm. When new firm members join, they will also have access to existing notes.

      2. Firm Users which allows you to select individual firm members or all members, but will not automatically include new members upon joining.

    3. The Event Date auto populates with today's date but can be changed. Click the calendar icon to select a different date.

    4. Related to, select the client(s), prospect(s), account(s) or securities the note relates to.

Note: You can create a custom default access list for new notes by changing your settings. From the main Note Manager window, click Note Settings.

  1. Enter your text about this note in the Comments area.

  2. In the Attachments area, click Attach and browse for the file wish to attach.

  3. Click Print if you would like to print your note.

  4. When you are finished, click Save and then Close.

  5. If you have multiple notes to add, click the Save and then the New button to open a new record. Note: If you click New before saving the note, you are prompted to save your changes. Select Yes to save the record and open a new one, No to discard your changes and open a new record, or Cancel to return to this note. You will not see the notes added to the grid until you close the open note record.
