Import from Morningstar Advisor Workstation

To import Advisor Workstation data into Morningstar Office, you must first export your data from Advisor Workstation. Advisor Workstation allows you to export client portfolios, group portfolios, or model portfolios. Portfolios are exported in a single XML file, which can be imported into Morningstar Office. You can export up to 100 portfolios at a time..

To export from the Portfolios or Model Portfolios tab, do the following:

  1. Select the portfolio(s) you want to export by clicking in the row(s) or checking the box(es) to the left.
  2. From the File menu, select Portfolio Export (XML) or right-click and select Portfolio Export (XML).
  3. A dialog box appears, asking if you want to open or save the XML file. Click Save.
  4. From the Save As dialog box, select the location where you want to save the file, then click Save.

You can also export from the client or group level. All portfolios within the selected client(s) or group(s) will be exported. To export from the Clients or Groups tab, do the following:

  1. Select the client(s) or group(s) you want to export by clicking in the row(s) or checking the box(es) to the left.
