An updated version of Morningstar Office is now available. It includes many new features and enhancements, including:
Accounts
Run a Portfolio Cash Flow report. This PDF report displays the Deposit, Withdrawal, Deliver-In, and Deliver-Out transactions received from an external source in a single report. The report is accessible for transactional accounts from the Reports > Portfolio menu.
Choose to show or hide liquidated holdings in the Accounts Holdings view. By default, liquidated holdings are hidden from view. To display them, go to Home > Settings > Preference, and check “Show Liquidated Holding.”
Use CD as a security type. This option is available when creating user-defined securities in the Definition Master.
Use Credit of Security or Debit of Security as a transaction type. This transaction type is available in the Accounts’ Transaction Blotter for all security types.
Access the Management Report options from the Report menu at both the client and practice levels. Previously, this menu was accessible only from within an account.
Choose to run an Assets Under Management report as of yesterday’s date or month-end. Previously, this report was only available as of yesterday’s close.
Import
Edit the Security Type for new user-defined securities in the Securities Blotter. This feature is available in the blotter when importing from any source. The security type is not editable for any security that has already been defined in the Definition Master.
Research
Access the Hedge Fund Quicktake in PDF format. Double-click a hedge fund to access the Quicktake, and then click PDF Report.
View and export the names of multiple fund managers. In the Manager Name column, click Multiple. The manager names will appear in a pop-up window. To export these names, simply include the Manager Name column in the view and click Export.
Plot market returns for ETFs and Closed-End Funds on the Investment Growth Graph. Previously, the graph displayed NAV returns. Market returns are now used because they better reflect an investor’s actual experience.
View a fund’s minimum IRA purchase amount on Quicktake Reports. Previously, this data was available only in the spreadsheet and Investment Detail Report.
Planning
Establish a Position Date (other than current date) for Risk Plans. This date is a common date for all accounts used to fund a Risk Plan. The position date will govern the position used for transactional accounts and the price used for quick accounts. The feature is available from the Funding step of Risk Plan creation.
