Firm Administration: Custodian Order Management

Entering Block Numbers

Each of your custodians may have issued you or your firm one or more block numbers to use when transmitting orders.

In the Firm Administration area, located under the Home, Settings, Portfolio Accounting System Settings page, you can enter all available block numbers for each advisor in your firm.

  1. In the grid area, use the magnifying glass icon to select the Advisor.

  2. From the dropdown list, select the Custodian that assigned the block numbers.

  3. Type the Block Account Number in the corresponding field.

  4. Click the + Add button to add lines to the grid.

After the block numbers have been added to this grid, they can be assigned to an account by using the Block Trade Account Number drop-down under the Portfolio Management, Account Profile settings page.

Mapping Custodian Tickers

Occasionally, for a given security, your custodian ticker does not match the Morningstar ticker on the orders that have been generated using the Morningstar Office rebalancing engine.  This can result in your custodian rejecting your order transmission.

To avoid this scenario, you can create a custodian ticker mapping rule by clicking the Map Custodian Ticker button.  Once the mapping rule is established, any future orders that are generated by Morningstar Office will use the custodian ticker corresponding to the account’s custodian setting (Portfolio Management -> Account Profile -> Current Custodian).
