Import Microsoft Excel - Research Lists Dialog Box

  1. Use the dropdown menu to select the Security ID Type.

  2. In the File Name box, click the magnifying glass icon to browse to the Microsoft Excel research file you want to import. Select the file and click Open. The path is displayed in the File Name box. Note: If the spreadsheet contains data in the first row, the system automatically assumes it to be a header row and makes those headings available in the data mapping section. If the file does not contain column headings, the first row should be blank (contains no data).

  3. Select the Action preference. Use the drop-down arrow to select either Save As New List or Add to Existing List.

  4. Click the Security Type drop-down and select the type of securities in the list. Only securities with this security type will be imported. If you want to import multiple security types into the same list, each type must be imported independently and added to the existing list.

  5. Select at least one of the three security identifiers. Use the drop-down list under Ticker, Security ID, or Security Name to map the corresponding spreadsheet column.

  6. Click Import to create the research list.

Note: Securities not recognized by Morningstar will not be imported.
