The risk-free rate is included in the calculation of the Sharpe ratio. The retirement calculator assumes that all of retirement savings are converted into a life annuity at retirement. This is done to avoid estimating an uncertain length of retirement. The risk-free rate should be your estimate of the real riskless rate. The default rate is 0.

  1. In the Risk Free Rate % field, enter a value for the desired risk-free rate.

  2. Click OK.

Note: The risk-free rate is saved individually for each plan. Any change to the risk-free rate for the current plan will be saved as a default for new plans.
