In circumstances where a transaction must be cancelled, a reversal transaction is necessary. Reversal Transactions are imported from your custodian files and are linked to the original transaction by the original transaction type and Original transaction date fields. In some cases, the reversal transaction will link automatically. In other cases, you will need to manually link a transaction. To manually link a reversal transaction to the original transaction, complete the following steps:
Double click on the Warning Icon (R) located in the Status column of the Import Blotter.
Click on the Select a Lot drop down menu. All transactions attached to the holding being reversed will be listed.
Select the original transaction that must be reversed.
In some cases a warning message will appear, alerting you to update the original date of the reversal transaction in the Blotter, click Yes to continue. This action will automatically correct the date in your reversal transaction.
Once complete, a check box will appear on the Warning Icon (R), signifying the reversal has been linked.
Note: Unlinked reversal transactions can be posted; however, this is not recommended. Unlinked reversal transactions may create report discrepancies.
