A company's dividends per share in a given year divided by the company's earnings per share in the same year. Dividends are collected from the company’s quarterly or annual income statement, The Wall Street Journal, or Bloomberg. In the annual income statement on the financial statement 1 page, we show dividends for the trailing 12 months and for each of the past five fiscal years. We also show percentage changes from one year to the next. The % Change Y1/Y2 field, for example, represents the percentage change in dividends between the most recently ended fiscal year and the prior fiscal year.
