The percentage of a company's operating income that comes from a particular segment (operating division or product line) in a given year. The calculation is the operating income from one segment divided by the company's total operating income. The resulting figure is then multiplied by 100. This information is found in the company’s most recent annual report or 10-K.
Note: In Morningstar Advisor Workstation, we only display meaningful segments. If there are income (losses) attributable to Other (which is a catch-all) or Corporate, these are not displayed. Therefore, the total % operating income can add up to more than 100%.
