This number is the current value of a security. The figure takes into account all options selected by the user, including sales charges, reinvestment of dividends and capital gains, sell shares to pay taxes, and whether or not the portfolio or a holding has been liquidated.
When calculating the market value for a holding, the calculation varies based on the type of investment and are as follows:
Stocks and Mutual Funds: units x price
Fixed Income: units x (price/100) x par value x price factor
Mortgage Backed: par value x (price/100) x price factor x principal factor x units
Options: units x price x number of contracts
Note: To accurately reflect the market value of the securities that a portfolio owns, the Market Value is the same across a fund’s share classes.
