Morningstar Completes Acquisition of Standard & Poor's Fund Data Business |
On March 16, we completed our acquisition of Standard & Poor's global fund data business. With this acquisition, we believe that Morningstar now has the most extensive global database for managed investment products, covering mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, insurance and pension funds, separate accounts, and hedge funds. Throughout the integration process, our primary focus is on serving our clients without disruption. The acquisition will not affect the products and services that you receive from Morningstar, except that we'll be able to offer you more global data in the future. We encourage you to contact your sales representative or relationship manager if you have any questions. For more information, please see our press release and general questions and answers at http://global.morningstar.com/SP. |

May 2007 Month-End Implementation of Enhanced Portfolio Statistics |
As previously announced, Morningstar is modifying our portfolio statistics to incorporate the economic impact of short positions and derivatives. This impacts all global portfolios and all types of investment products. The implementation schedule has been changed from March month-end to May month-end in order to give fund families more time to comply with the reporting template and to allow clients to prepare to accept data in the new format. Following are links to resources for this project:
Portfolio Reporting Template
Methodology Document
Data Point Inventory Spreadsheet
Live Meeting Presentation
We recently hosted meetings for Licensed Data clients to go over this information in detail. If you didn't attend a meeting to review the requirements of the project, please contact your Relationship Manager immediately. |
