Release Notes

Enhanced Portfolio Statistics Implementation Postponed

In order to ensure a smooth integration of the recently acquired data business unit from Standard & Poor's, Morningstar will be postponing the shorts/derivatives project from May month-end to August month-end. The S&P integration and the enhanced portfolio statistics are both resource-intensive for Morningstar and for clients, and we want to ensure that both roll out smoothly. The delay will also give clients the opportunity to run more test files on the shorts/derivatives data.

Index Name Standardization

Our Benchmark database team recently swept through our entire database of more than 35,000 indexes to update and standardize index names. These changes will not require any action by our clients, and new index names will roll into all our products over the next few weeks. We hope you will find the database easier to use as a result of this project.

Additional Separate Accounts/CITs Added to Morningstar Database

We have activated another 100 separate accounts/collective investment trusts (CITs), bringing our total coverage to nearly 6,000 as we continue to recruit more managers and integrate the Altvest data into our systems.

Q1 2007 U.S. Fund Category Review

The next review will begin on May 16. Fund families with proposed category changes will be notified by e-mail on May 16. New categories will be available on our Websites on the third business day of June, June 5.

Recap of Previous Announcements

Morningstar Completes Acquisition of Standard & Poor's Fund Data Business

On March 16, we completed our acquisition of Standard & Poor's global fund data business. With this acquisition, we believe that Morningstar now has the most extensive global database for managed investment products, covering mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, insurance and pension funds, separate accounts, and hedge funds. Throughout the integration process, our primary focus is on serving our clients without disruption. The acquisition will not affect the products and services that you receive from Morningstar, except that we'll be able to offer you more global data in the future. We encourage you to contact your sales representative or relationship manager if you have any questions. For more information, please see our press release and general questions and answers at http://global.morningstar.com/SP.
