Release Notes

We would like to take this opportunity to extend a special welcome to the clients who joined us as a result of the S&P mutual fund data business acquisition. This newsletter is published monthly to provide you with timely alerts to upcoming data and methodology changes, new Morningstar initiatives, and general "housekeeping" issues. We hope you find it useful and welcome your feedback.

Morningstar's integration of the S&P fund data business is proceeding as scheduled. You may have already noticed increases to our coverage of offshore funds, hedge funds, and U.S. money markets. In the coming months, we will continue to assess the new data we acquired, and will provide you with details and release dates as our plans develop.

Continuing our integration of the S&P fund data business, we recently added more than 6,000 new indexes to our database, including

• JP Morgan EMBI and GBI indexes
• FTSE APCIMS Private investor, US NAREIT, Bursa Malaysia, UK Value and Growth, All World indexes
• S&P/Citigroup BMI Global, Japan 500, HKEX, ADR, Global 1200 indexes
• MSCI AC World indexes
• EONIA and Euribor indexes
• Euronext Paris CAC indexes
• Additional Lehman Brothers indexes

You will find a complete list of the new indexes here.

Also as part of the S&P data integration, our coverage has increased by 2,000 to nearly 8,000 global hedge funds. The Morningstar database is now one of the most extensive sources for hedge fund data.

Please plan to test your loading processes to ensure that you are prepared to accommodate files with the new enhanced portfolio statistics. Please log-in to your FTP site on the following days to access test files: June 27, July 25, and Aug. 15. Project rollout is on track for August data in files delivered in September. If you have any questions, please contact your Relationship Manager.

Effective with July month-end, we will be making some changes to our Canadian fund category classifications. Morningstar Canada has rejoined the Canadian Investment Funds Standards Committee (CIFSC), setting the stage for re-establishing a single set of basic industry-wide categories for Canadian investment funds. If you subscribe to a data package, you will be receiving a new category list from our data team via e-mail. Please visit this Website for more information.

Recap of Previous Announcements

Our Benchmark database team recently swept through our entire database of more than 35,000 indexes to update and standardize index names. These changes will not require any action by our clients, and new index names will roll into all our products over the next few weeks. We hope you will find the database easier to use as a result of this project. Click here for a schedule containing both the old and new names.

We have activated another 100 separate accounts/collective investment trusts (CITs), bringing our total coverage to nearly 6,000 as we continue to recruit more managers and integrate the Altvest data into our systems.

Thank you to all who participated in the recent U.S. fund category review.
New categories were available on our Websites on the third business day of June, June 5.
