An investment list/search criteria serves as a tool for performance reporting, peer analysis, and other important tasks of investment research. An investment list/search criteria is composed of investments (rows) and data points (columns). A search criteria differs from an investment list in that its membership is dynamic. For an investment list, users save the actual members of the list; while for search criteria, users save the search criteria and not the investment members. So, the members could change based on the search results depending upon when users perform the search.
Investment lists can be used to select investments when creating output such as a report or chart. Typical types of investment lists include a mutual fund family, a 401K plan, or a peer group. By creating an investment list, you do not need to recreate the list every time you generate output.
For illustration purpose, let us demonstrate how to create investment list. Users may add investments by name/ticker or search criteria, or by importing a list of holdings. You will be taken through all three routes below.
