Custom Grade Settings

The custom grade setting dialog is used to define grades for investment based on specified rules.  For example rules can be created to score funds with negative returns with a grade of -1, and funds with positive returns with a grade of 1.  Steps to defining a custom grade are:

1. The first step is to select time period/data point type which the custom grade will be defined for.  To create the same rule for all like data points across all time periods, select the All Time Periods option.  To create a custom grade for an individual time period select that time period.  To create a custom grade for supplementary data points, select the Supplementary option in the drop down.

2. Select the data point or rank which the custom grade will be created for.

3. The name of the custom grade which will be displayed on the report can be edited using the Custom Grade Name text box.

4. Set the default grade value; the default grade value will be the grade given to investments which do not fall into your rules.  Clear the Default Grade Value text box if you do not want to grade funds which do not match any of your rules.

5. Use the operator drop down and value text box to create your rules.  Assign a grade to those funds by editing the grade text box.

6. Click the insert rule button to add more rules to your custom grade.

When defining rules, keep in mind that the order of the rule matters; rule 1 take precedent over rule 2.  For example if rule 1 is defined as Return > 1 get a grade of 1, and rule two is defined as Return > 2 gets a grade of 2, since funds with returns greater than 2 are also greater than 1, the grade for rule 1 will take precedent over rule 2.
