Security Classifications

The settings dialog is used to create a set of reusable parameters when creating Reports. These saved settings are used in the Reports workflow. The dialog consists of three tabs (Views, Security Classifications, and Dates & Calculations).

The Security Classifications tab allows users to select how many level they would like to expand composite assets and select the row level groupings used within each View of a Report.

Expand Composite Assets

When Expand Composite Assets is unchecked portfolio analysis functionality will display a composite asset as if it were a single security. The composite assets will fall into the Other security classification group on views. For example, if your portfolio contains four mutual funs, Portfolio Analysis will display all the data in the Other security classification group on views. When checked the following radio buttons will be enabled:

All Levels

All levels allow the user to expand all composite assets to their underlying constituents. There may be cased where composite assets holdings contain additional composite assets. For example, if a mutual fund contains ETFs , the "All Levels" option expands all composite assets to the underlying constituents regardless of how many layers of composite asset nesting exists in the portfolio and/or composites of composites.

Specific Levels

This option lets you specify the number of levels (e.g., first, second, etc.) a composite asset with nesting will expand. For example, you may have a composite asset that contains mutual funds with composite assets nested within, etc. Max is 9 levels.

Long Only

Unchecked Performs analysis on long and short positions. The first Security Classification hierarchy will automatically be Long/Short when there is a short position in portfolio.

Checked If portfolio has short positions they will not appear in the analysis. Actual Weights will display long only and rescale the long positions to 100%.
