Advanced Search

Advanced Search Criteria allows you to create and save custom searches. Let's create a list of Hedge funds in the US Equity Morningstar Category with trailing 3-year total returns in the top quartile of that category.

Steps

1. Click Workspace on the main window, and then click Investment Lists. On the Action bar, click New.

2. In the dialog box that opens asking you how you want to add investments, click Search Criteria.

3. In the Universe list, select Hedge Funds.

4. Click Click here to start a new search in the Field Name column of row 1.

5. Morningstar Category is listed under the Snapshot data point list, so click + next to Snapshot, and then select Morningstar Category.

6. In the Operator column, select =.

7. In the Value column, select US Equity.

8. In the Rel (Relation) column of row 2, select And.

9. In the Field Name column, click + next to Returns Rank in Category and select Tot Ret % Rank Cat 3 Yr.

10. In the Operator column, select <.

11. In the Value column, type 25.

12. To save search criteria, click Save.

13. Click OK. A new window opens with your investments.

14. To save the investment list, click Save or Save and Close.
