Creating a quick account

These steps are for creating a quick account. To learn how to create a transactional account, click here.

  1. In the left navigation pane, click Portfolio Management. The Portfolio Management tab opens.

  2. In the left-hand column, click Accounts. The Accounts spreadsheet opens.

  3. On the Action Shortcuts tool bar, click . The Find Client/Prospect dialog opens.

  4. Find the client or prospect for whom you are creating the account and highlight the name.

  5. Click OK. The New Account dialog opens.

  6. Select Quick Account and click OK. The Account Basics dialog opens. All fields in blue are required.

  7. In the Account Name box, enter the name for the account. Morningstar Office pre-populates several fields. Edit these as necessary and fill in additional fields as desired.

  8. Click . The Holdings Entry dialog opens to the Stock/Fund tab.

  9. Enter holdings.
     

  10. You can enter assets one-at-a-time directly on the screen.

  11. You can enter multiple holdings at once. Click . The Add Holdings dialog opens.

  12. Find and select the desired holdings and click OK. You return to the Holdings Entry dialog.

  13. Click . You return to the Holdings Summary view and the account is saved.
