Overview
It might be necessary to merge User-Defined securities if you have duplicate securities or securities with ticker/security ID changes in your Definition Master. Usually, this will be apparent if you have imported positions that you wish combine. Merging two securities together will combine their price databases automatically – an advantage over Replace Holdings in reconciliation.
How it Works
Merge Securities can only be done for two User-Defined securities at a time: the source security and the target security. These securities must be of the same Security Type. All transactions or positions for the source security will be replaced with those of the target security. Prices from the source security will be combined with those from the target security. All other data (such as coupon rate or credit rating) from the source security will be lost.
To merge securities, do the following
From the Tools menu, select Edit Definition Master.
In the left-hand navigation, click Securities.
Check the box to select the source security first.
Click the Action menu and select Merge Security.
Click OK to confirm that you want to merge this security with another security.
You will be prompted to select the target security. Note that you must choose from a list of securities of the same Security Type as the source.
Select the proper target security and click OK.
Read the confirmation message carefully and confirm the two securities you have selected appear correct. Click OK.
