The Morningstar Office team added a great new feature on March 8th, 2007.
(Previous smaller updates were released on January 31st and January 5th.)
An updated version of Morningstar Office is now available. It includes many new features and enhancements, including:
Accounts
You can now create X-Ray PDF reports as of month-end or quarter-end in addition to the current date.
In the Transactions view of an account, you can now edit transaction types and amounts. This feature is available from the Action and right-click menus.
Holdings that have not been recently priced are now displayed in red in the spreadsheet views. If your imported prices are incomplete, you can choose to use Morningstar's prices instead for any Morningstar securities. This price setting is available from the Price Sources tab of the Definitions Master.
New data points have been added to several accounting repots. Accrued Interest is now displayed in the Portfolio Current Value and Portfolio Summary reports. Ticker/CUSIP symbols are displayed in Portfolio Current Value and Unrealized Gain/Loss reports.
You can copy a Rebalance schedule from one transactional account to another. Select the Rebalance schedule and choose Copy from the Action menu.
Create a comparison of an account to a model portfolio and print out a one-page report. Click for instructions.
Import
The Reconciliation feature now allows you to reconcile your accounts on any date for which you have previously imported positions. Use this feature to help identify when an account first became out-of-balance. From the new Reconciliation tab in the Import blotter, click the Reconcile Historical Date button.
The View Transactions feature on the Reconciliation screen now displays both posted and pending transactions. The feature can be accessed by right-clicking any holding in this view.
The Last Custodian File Date replaces the Last Import Date column on the main import screen. This date is a better indicator of which files you may need to import to bring your accounts up-to-date. It describes the data that was imported rather than the date on which it was imported.
The new Transaction Type Code column in the blotter displays the transaction type as defined by the custodian. If Workstation does not recognize a transaction from the custodian, the codes displayed in this column will in the troubleshooting process.
A Remove Security Mapping feature has been added to the Action menu in the Definition Master's Security Mapping screen. Use this feature when a false match has been found for one of your user-defined securities based and you want to remove the mapping to the Morningstar security.
Model Portfolios
You can create a one-page printable comparison of two model portfolios side-by-side, or a comparison of a model portfolio and a client account.

Merging Clients
You can merge two clients together to create one household. This can be especially useful if you import accounts and they appear as different clients.
Billings
A new Settings button in Practice/Billing enables easy monitoring of management fees.
Planning
When you delete an account from a client and that account is incorporated into a plan, you now have the ability to choose whether or not to continue to include the newly deleted account in the plan.
Research
When exporting a fund's holdings from the Quicktake, the fund name and ticker are now included on the export spreadsheet.
In the VA/L subaccount universes, Month-End AUVs have been added to the research spreadsheet.
